1. Who controls your data

hitch.exchange is operated by a licensed Indiana real estate broker (licence #156112346). We are the data controller for information collected through this platform. Contact us at hello@hitch.exchange with any privacy questions.

2. What we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

From sellers:

• Name, email address, mailing address, and phone number
• Tax identification number (for IRS 1099 reporting)
• Membership details: tier, membership number, regions, contract year, annual dues, and contract terms
• Asking price and any notes about the contract
• How you heard about us (optional)

From buyers:

• Name and email address
• Message sent with an enquiry
• Whether buyer protection (Escrow.com) was selected

Automatically:

• Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page views) via Vercel
• Basic analytics via Vercel Analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking)

3. How we use your information

• To list, market, and facilitate the sale of your membership.
• To communicate with you about your listing, enquiries, or transaction status.
• To coordinate the membership transfer with Thousand Trails on your behalf.
• To issue tax documentation as required by the INFORM Consumers Act and IRS rules.
• To process service fee payments via Stripe.
• To improve the platform and understand how it is used.

4. Seller confidentiality

Seller contact details — including name, email, phone, address, and tax ID — are stored securely and are never shared with buyers. Our platform is built so that the API cannot return seller contact information in any buyer-facing response. Buyers communicate with hitch.exchange only — we handle all correspondence on the seller's behalf.

5. Who we share data with

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

6. Data retention

We retain seller and transaction records for a minimum of seven years to comply with real estate recordkeeping requirements and tax obligations. Buyer enquiry records are retained for 12 months after the enquiry date. You may request earlier deletion of your data where it does not conflict with a legal obligation.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
• Withdraw consent for non-essential uses at any time.

8. Security

Seller contact details and tax information are stored at the database level with row-level access controls. API endpoints that serve buyer-facing pages cannot return seller PII. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We review access controls regularly. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. We will notify active sellers of material changes by email.
